Within this Garden: Photographs by Ruth Thorne-Thomsen
About the Exhibition
A retrospective and monograph by Ruth Thorne-Thomsen (Pennsylvania) explored the interrelationships of photography, psychology, history, culture, mythology, and poetry. The traveling exhibition, circulated by The Museum of Contemporary Photography through December 1995, included eighty-five 4″x5” contact prints and fifteen mural 30″x40” photographs. The exhibition was accompanied by a publication (The Museum of Contemporary Photography in association with Aperture, New York, 1993) with an essay by Denise Miller-Clark and an original poem by Poet Laureate Mark Strand.
