Children and Teens Workshop with Zanele Muholi

On Sunday, April 16, from 10 am-12 p.m., join us for a free workshop for children and teens with Zanele Muholi for their launch of a dot-to-dot coloring book, Connect the Dots. The book includes images inspired by the photographic self-portraits from Muholi’s ongoing portrait series, Somnyama Ngonyama (Hail, the Dark Lioness).
The individual pages are perforated so that they can be torn out and shared. Muholi envisions Connect the Dots as a communication tool designed to bring people together and to share with one another. Their ultimate aim is for collectors or interested organizations to purchase the books on behalf of schools and educational institutions. The project forms part of the artist’s mission to help develop a younger generation of aspiring artists, thinkers and activists.
Seating is limited, advanced registration is strongly encouraged. Priority seating will be given to children and teens. Register Here.
The workshop is hosted at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago (MoCP) in partnership with Southern Guild and Expo Chicago. In addition two of Muholi’s prints in MoCPs collection will be on view during this time.
