Photography and Marketing, Liz Claiborne: Women’s Work
About the Exhibition
A provocative cause-related marketing campaign aimed toward promoting social awareness of domestic violence, images from this campaign were presented not only in the MoCP north gallery but also in its Michigan Avenue and Harrison Street windows, a kiosk in Columbia College Chicago’s library, and on a Chicago billboard. Featured artists included Barbara Kruger (New York), Susan Meiselas (New York), Carrie Mae Weems (California), Diane Tani (California), and Jon Winet and Margaret Crane (California). T-shirts, tote bags, baseball caps, mugs, and sunglasses, featuring the work of Barbara Kruger and designed in collaboration with Liz Claiborne, Inc. were sold at the museum during the course of the exhibition. Proceeds benefited Family Rescue, Chicago, to broaden public awareness of the persuasiveness of domestic violence.
